Music
in Different Keys
Flat
key signatures are similar. Each flat sign is in the position of
a note. All notes with the same name must be 'flattened'.

Different
keys enable us to play different combinations of notes to make our
music sound more varied and interesting. They also enable us to
play higher or lower to suit different singing voices and instruments,
when we want to play with them.
Play
the scales of the keys of G and F and hear the difference.
In
the scale of G, F# is played instead of F (natural).
In the scale of F, B b is played instead of B (natural).

The
notes of the scale and other notes with the same names, are they
melody notes you can expect to find in
music in each key.
Extra
#, b or signs may be found in music in each key. Remember they also
affect notes in the same position which follow in the bar.
Take
care to read sharps, flats and naturals correctly, or your music
will not sound right. Read these pages again if you have any doubts
about sharps, flats, naturals or key signatures.
