So
far, the music in this website has been played on the white keys
of the piano using what are called the 'natural notes' - A, B, C,
D, E, F and G.
Notes
which are played on the black keys are called 'sharp notes' and
'flat notes' - 'sharps' and 'flats', for short.
SHARPS ( # )
A Sharp note is played on the next key to the right of the 'natural
note' with the same letter name - 'C sharp' is played on the black
key to the right of C.
Sharp notes are marked with a sharp sign - # . (C Sharp is written
C # .)
Play
all the notes on the black keys, saying the name of each note as
you play it. Notice how each sharp note is on the black key to the
right of the natural note with the same letter name.
