Starting to read music

You can play the next few tunes with the notes shown here. Rest your fingers lightly on the keys before you start to play. Make sure each finger is on the correct key. Your right thumb should be on Middle C, your left thumb should be on G. Then play each of these notes in turn:



The small numbers in front of notes on the staves tell you which finger to use to play each note: 1 =thumb, 2 index finger, and so on.

Try to keep your eyes on the music while you play the next tune. Put your hands in place, then concentrate on reading the notes and pressing down the correct finger without watching your hands.
